Made In China…Deadly
(Updated from my Archives)Whatever happened to consumer safety regulations that are suppose to protect us from shoddy and dangerous imports from China? Oh yeah, I forgot, it’s the money, stupid! Not only have we turned a blind eye to products that kill, maim, injure, poison, etc., we have not been diligent in protecting ourselves from the influx of thousands of toxic products/goods manufactured in China. From food products/food ingredients, children’s toys, pet foods, drugs, jewelry, seafood, etc. The list is long and you will be horrified to find what is on that list. It is time to stop/limit the importation of products from China. Stop shopping at WALMART would be a good place to start. (Read my blog WALMART – Made In China – Coming soon!!!). Start reading the labels on products and if it reads “Made In China”, buy a comparable product from another country…preferably yours, even though this may mean spending a bit more. Remember, you are supporting your local community and your local economy!!! I know, it is almost impossible to find anything that isn’t “Made In China”. But, if we the consumer stops buying the crap that comes from China, the supply/demand system will collapse and there will be no market for those products. So, let’s speak up, take action and maybe just maybe we can live free of lethal products/goods from China. I have an idea, “BOYCOTT MADE IN CHINA”.

We Are Facing Challenging Times…What Are You Prepared To Do?
What have you got to lose? Everything.
Corporate downsizing, job insecurity, job loss, bankruptcy, pay reduction, increase in cost of living, higher utility bills, higher taxes, escalating food prices, etc. etc. etc.
We are now living in a time when all of the above are affecting our families and friends. The anxiety and dread of falling into debt or not being able to afford your children’s education, health care, mortgage, car payment is taking its toll on hard working people like you and me. It will only get worse until the economy improves, by that time, many of us will have lost our jobs, homes, and most importantly, a financially secure future.
Muslims At The Gate
I am not a bigot or a racist. I am a minority. I am also a Canadian, born and raised. So who am I to be a racist? Let’s talk about that. First of all, I am not religious so I don’t have all that baggage hanging around my neck….dictating how I must live my life and how I have to follow religious tenets. I see muslims coming and going to the mosque next to my home and I wonder what they are planning to do next. I have no hope that religion is doing anything but propagating hate and intolerancce and doing more harm than good. That is the part I hate the most. I think that muslims are generally good hearted, but ignorant. The same goes for Christians. Religion has blinded most of their followers and have left them with no means to survive without faith. This is ridiculous. If there is a god, that god is inside each individual. Islam is a religion that is suppose to be good. It has been poisoned by religious zealots and extremists. Religion as it is today should be banned and reviled. It has only propogated hate, intolerance and WAR.
Sayonara Vancouver Canucks
Deja Vu all over again. Here we are witnessing another collapse of the Canucks. All Canucks fans have seen this before and it is indeed painful to watch. No hitting, no aggression in puck pursuit and most of all…no goals. Chicago continues to have its way in hitting, puck possession and goals. Why the Canucks take all this crap with no push-back perplexes me. The Hawks continue to get in Luongo’s face, bumping him, screening him, showering him with ice and yet the Canucks continue to play patsies and show no signs of fighting back. I am sick of it and hope the Hawks win and put Vancouver out of its misery. That would suit me just fine. I am looking forward to golf more than ever. By the way, what happened to Kesler? In fact what happened to the entire team? If you are watching tonight’s game, you will most certainly agree that the team has abandoned its work ethic and passion. “Collapse” and “Choke” are hard words to swallow, but there is little to hope for as this version of Canucks continues its legacy of failing at the most important times. Longtime fans will no doubt understand my disgust yet again. So, go Hawks go!!!!!
Tropical Paradise
Koh Lanta? Where is that? Most people who have travelled to Thailand have not heard of this quiet, idyllic island on the west coast located on the Andaman Sea. It is still undeveloped though there are now a few world-class resorts catering to the moneyed tourist. There are also many local bungalows owned by locals for rent. For the shoe-string traveller, it is very affordable and allows plenty of seclusion and privacy. There are still lots of things to see and do, and the isolated, still pristine beaches will beckon you! If you are looking for “Off the beaten track” places to visit, this may very well be one of the last of the best. I stayed with a friend at his restaurant/bungalow on the beach and the solitude and privacy was overwhelming. It was the ideal place to lay back, relax and rejuvenate the soul. I highly recommend a visit before Koh Lanta goes the way of all the other hot spots…forever.
Coffee And A Smoke
I don’t know about you, but I am a smoker and love that morning coffee with a smoke. I have been doing this for years and despite the health issues, I still love that combination. It’s like salt and pepper…one without the other is not the same. I admit that I have reduced my intake of cigarettes, but it only enhances those moments when I have a smoke. I love a smoke after meals, mmm, good. Again, I get all the looks and glances of disapproval, but I still do it. The only thing I hate about smoking is the smell. Even I get sick of it. So I can agree with my friends when they complain that I smell like a “smokestack”. I am a considerate “Smoker” though. I don’t smoke in a restaurant, theater, someone’s home, I try to be downwind, I don’t drop my smoke on the ground or throw it out my car window. In fact, I detest those smokers who make all the other smokers look bad. My main pet peeve with the holier than thou non-smokers who give me the sneer, snide remark is this…”Don’t Breathe”. Long live Players Light!!!!
Market Philippines Opens In July!
The latest info on Market Philippines is great news for Filipinos. Not only in Canada, but the Philippines as well. With the continuing stagnation in economies from the US, Canada, Europe and Asia, this is welcome news. Canada Buys Hawaii….!!!
Did I forget to mention that it is April Fool’s day? Don’t worry, Hawaii is still in American hands! . I only wish….
When Was The Last Time You Got A Lei?
I love Hawaii. I’ve been there 12 times and I can never get enough of the people, food and lifestyle. I moved there in the 80′s and lived there for a year. However, paradise is not as it may seem. After a while, island fever set in and I had to go back to my other lifestyle. I decided that it was probably a good place to have a holiday, but not to live. I was right. Since then, I have lived in other countries and have broadened my experiences. Occasionally, I reminisce about being in Hawaii, but I don’t regret my decision to move on. For those who have gone to Hawaii for holidays, you will always remember the smells, sights, food and friendly smiles. You may be one of those who make an annual holiday to Hawaii. Enjoy and let it bring a smile to your face. I am jealous and envious. I am making plans to go to Hawaii this summer (after 20 years) and I look forward to re-acquaint myself to the wonderful things that make it a premier holiday destination. My words of advice are….go now before it is gone!!!
Canada Buys Hawaii!!
This is unprecedented. A country buying another country’s State? How could that be? Well, listen up people, Canada now owns half of the State of Hawaii and Canadians love it!!! We now have our own tropical island to go to without a VISA!!! Forget Puerto Rica, we have Hawaii! Once this news hits the mainline media, it will be big. Very BIG!!! I, for one will remember this day as a day that defined Canada as a SuperPower…albeit without the nuclear weapons. We have beaches, Pokee, Mahee Mahee and Leis. When was the last time you got a Lei without a visa??? God bless Canada!!!
